Mothers Day at Farmy
We’re just so thrilled to have Carol from Peppermint Ridge Flowers at Farm Gate once more, just in time for Mothers Day! The market will be all the brighter for it. Beautiful gum foliage, banksias, proteas, brunia, chrysanthemums, leucadendron, alstroemeria + Christmas bush are in season this week!
| Also returning are Steve + Isabelle from Bruny Island Seafoods with their super fresh and sweet D’Entrecasteaux oysters – welcome back! Shucked or live available, along with their own Kilpatrick + Bloody Mary sauces. The boys from Tasmanian Juice Press have created a pineapple, lemon, apple, orange, ginger + passionfruit juice for all those lovely mummas out there, Greer from Quiet Mutiny has the wine covered – Derwent Valley Riesling or Syrah, or a delicious Coal Valley pinot – and our bakers will have pastries for all those breakfasts in bed…. like a Philadelphia Bakers almond croissant, or Baker & Co frangipane tart. |
| After stoically juggling the last few weeks of sudden home schooling, sitting through classroom zoom chats and sharing a crowded home office on top of everything else, this Mothers Day is even more deserved… time for your yearly standing ovation, mums. |
Farm Gate Drive-Thru
We completed our successful beta-trial this week (thank you to our fabulous guinea pigs!)… and that means the Drive-Thru’s online portal will open to everybody starting at 9.00am, Tuesday 12th May.
How does it work?
👉 head to sign up here to the drive-thru e-flyer for updates
👉 order online from your favourite producers by each Wednesday night
👉 select your pick-up time for Sunday arvo
👉 load a plastic tub (or 2) into your boot
👉 hop in the car + head to the Drive-Thru
👉 we load your car up + off you go
👉 bonus…. you still get to see us + we still get to see you!
Shopping online is a little bit different to shopping at the market. While many pantry + kitchen staples can be individually selected, vegies come in seasonal vegie boxes packed by your favourite producer, bakery items come conveniently bundled by your bakers and meat comes in packs to suit different sized households.
But with 60 Farm Gate Producers online to select from, there is loads of choice!
Our new Drive-Thru service might not suit everyone, so don’t worry! The market on Bathurst Street will still operate every Sunday morning as per usual.
We’ve been inundated with some amazingly positive feedback so far from our test group, and we’re super excited to fulfill our first orders.

solo shopping + other important measures
Our Producers have worked incredibly hard to adjust, adapt and continue to bring you safe, local produce each week. Help them, and our staff, by familiarising yourselves with the safe new ways we operate during this time, including shopping solo if you can, limiting your time at the market and physical distancing when onsite. Please read our blog post here to familiarise yourself with all our COVID-19 measures.

🛒 Bringing enough baskets or a carrier with wheels
❌ Stand on the X’s when queuing + keeping 1.5m between you + others
🥦 Handling produce – ‘you touch it, you buy it’
🏠 Leaving the kids at home if you can
🙋♀️ Shopping for your neighbours or community, too
❗️ Remember: do not attend the market if you or a member of your household is sick.
